First Aid (GWO) Refresher

This module has been prepared in accordance with the guidelines of the Global Wind Organization (GWO).
The training is intended for personnel working in the wind industry, who is already in possession of the First Aid certificate and who complies with the biennial repeat obligation. The training offers knowledge and skills about providing first aid in the event of accidents (first aid) in and near wind turbines.


The First Aid GWO Refresher (First Aid) training is a refresher course for the First Aid training. The knowledge about handling first aid procedures in accidents is refreshed. In addition, this training focuses on the use of available first aid equipment. Furthermore, the functioning of normal functions of the human body and the symptoms of illness or injury are treated.
In this ‘First Aid’ module for the wind industry, the focus is on providing first aid in wind turbines. This means that limited space and the entry and exit possibilities of a wind turbine are taken into account. Practical exercises are an important part of this course.

The following components are covered in this training:

  • performing first aid (First Aid) in a safe manner in accordance with legal requirements;
  • basic knowledge about normal body functions and the symptoms of major and minor injuries and diseases (anatomy);
  • setting priorities in dealing with an emergency situation in a wind turbine;
  • working with / applying:
    • life-saving first aid;
    • Automatic External Defibrillator (AED);
    • equipment in a first aid scenario.

Class times:
On the first day, participants are expected to register at 7:45 am. The training starts at 8.30 a.m. and will end around 4 p.m.

Language:
The training is given in English. On request, the training for groups can be organized in a different language. It is also possible to hire an interpreter via STC-KNRM.

  • Medical examination.

Admission
Requirements: A requirement to participate in the refresh training is that the participant must be in possession of a valid First Aid certificate. In addition, it is important that the participant is in possession of a medical examination. STC-KNRM can arrange this inspection for you. It is also possible to hand over a statement from a doctor showing that you are physically able to participate in the training.

Winda registration
From October 17, 2016, all participants in the GWO training must register as a participant in WINDA. Once the registration has been completed you will receive a WINDA ID, you must have sent this WINDA ID to info@whitecoraloffshore.nl before the training ends. This WINDA ID is your personal identification and all your future GWO training courses will be registered under this ID. You can register for a WINDA ID with a smartphone, tablet or PC at winda.globalwindsafety.org .
